The stars of Dirty Soap

Farah Fath, one of the former soap opera stars who has been featured on the E! reality series, Dirty Soap, has tweeted, "I could give a shit," in response to a fan's question, "How do you feel about Dirty Soap not getting picked up [for a second season]? "

Fath continued, "I'd rather attempt to act on your screens again. Not whine about my troubles for the world to see."

Earlier this week Dirty Soap star Jenna Gering announced that the E! network had decided not to continue with plans for a second season, because, "Apparently E! needed a million viewers for that Sunday time slot."

Gering noted that Dirty Soap only managed to draw an average of .8 million viewers.

Still, soap--and some reality--fans are disappointed that the show won't be returning (here were my top ten reasons to watch Dirty Soap). And they can't be thrilled at Fath's flippant response to the cancellation.

What do you think about the cancellation and Fath's comments?

X Factor: Only 2 Remain

Paula Abdul has confirmed the shocking news that she (along with fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones) has been eliminated from The X Factor judges panel.

"Yes, it's true; I won't be returning to The X Factor next season," Abdul said in a statement Tuesday. "I've learned through my longevity in this industry that business decisions often times override personal considerations.  And I, along with Fox and Fremantle, have been communicating about this for a while now, and I have absolute understanding of the situation."

"Simon is and will remain a dear friend of mine," Abdul's statement continues. "And I've treasured my experience working this past season with my extended family at Fox and Fremantle. I want nothing more than for The X Factor to exceed ALL of their wildest dreams. This truly has been a blessing and I am most grateful."

Only two of the people in this photo (© Fox) remain on X Factor's roster.

Cast of Jersey Shore

Have you heard about the Jersey Shore spin off shows in the works?

While the current season hasn't attracted record numbers of viewers, New York Post has reported that MTV is currently scouting locations for a sixth season of Jersey Shore. But  producers are also already planning for two spin offs to carry the brand into the future.

First there's a show that will focus on Pauly D's DJing career as he launches a national tour and fulfils his new contract with 50 Cent's G-Note Records.  Then there's a Jersey Shore spin off that will revolve around Snooki and JWoww as the two girls move in with each other.

Hudson Now reports that business owners in Hoboken, New Jersey had received consent forms from MTV in case JWoww and Snooki visit during the filming of their as yet unnamed show.

Will you watch one or both spin offs? Which member of the Jersey Shore cast do you think most deserves their own show? (Share your opinion in the comments or take this poll).

Paula Abdul fired from X Factor

The shocking news about X Factor keeps coming! First we heard that neither judge Nicole Scherzinger nor host Steve Jones would be returning for the second season of Fox's singing competition.

Now E!Online has reported that another judge is also out. Apparently, the show's creator, Simon Cowell wants to take the show in a new direction. And he'll only need himself and L.A. Reid to get there.

Which left Cowell willing to fire his long-term friend and fellow judge, Paula Adul. Fox .reportedly informed Abdul she would no longer be needed on X Factor.

What do you think about all this? Is this a reasonable response to last season's disappointing ratings? If you were going to keep two judges, who would it be? Who do you want to see as the new judges on X Factor?

About Reality TV

Project Runway Season 9 Host Heidi Klum

This weekend many were shocked to learn that Project Runway's host, supermodel Heidi Klum is separating from singer Seal, after seven years of marriage. In fact, even some of the couple's closest friends were reportedly stunned to learn of the pending divorce.

Klum, 38, and Seal, 48 have three children together (Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2) and were also raising Klum's seven-year-old daughter, Leni. The divorce will undoubtedly be difficult on the children, which has led many insiders to conjecture that something big (like infidelity) must be behind the split.

But the couple, who have always seemed deeply in love and committed to their family since they married in 2005, insist they have simply "grown apart."

In a joint statement the couple said, "We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority."

Seal speaks out about the split on today's The Ellen DeGeneres Show and this Friday on PBS's Tavis Smiley show. In the latter interview, (see a preview here)  Seal says, "What one has to do in this situation is remain civil and to retain one's dignity and to be professional and to understand that we are not the only people on this planet that go through this. It is just, unfortunately, a chapter of life."

What do you think? Were you surprised by the announcement? What do you think is behind the divorce? How do you think this will impact their kids?

About Reality TV

American Idol logo

When American Idol premiered Wednesday, it garnered the highest ratings of the night.

But, the 21.6 million viewers represented a significant drop from the previous season's premiere.  In fact, it was an 18 percent drop from the 26.2 million who tuned in to see  Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez make their first appearance as Idol judges.

The dip in viewers was even worse when evaluating the coveted audience of 18 to 49-year-olds.  The TV viewers most prized by advertisers dropped 27 percent since last season.

Last week, Fox chairman Kevin Reilly predicted the dip, saying the network expected the audience for Idol to be down this season because of the show's age.

But, American Idol has been the number one show on TV for the past six of the singing competition's eleven seasons. If that's showing its age,  Idol may not have anything to worry about.

Except the competition.  First, Fox's new reality competition, The X Factor, may have bled off some viewers. Next comes, The Voice, which premieres in February and will give Idol a run for the money.

But what kept viewers from tuning in this week?

Did you watch the auditions this week? If you didn't, why not? Will you tune in again once the auditions end? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
